i was thinking about this last night and I had a crazy idea

Basically the problem is the same as with many situations, you only want to vote for certain people if you can be sure that your vote will make a difference.

It's the same with investment in start-ups - people don't want to back a project unless they know that there is enough demand for it. That's the advantage of kickstarter, it polls how many people might be interested and then if it reaches the required amount it gives the project the green light.

So with technology, we could do the same thing. You could vote for a party on the condition that they have enough other people to win the vote, or you could do the opposite, vote for the monster raving looney party on the condition that not enough people vote for them. Isn't that brilliant?
