Its been kicking in for a while now, a few here and a few there....
Bu they all add up and the last time I counted we are up to almost 4,000 in Aberdeen alone, most in the oil companies, but its starting to hit the major contractors and supply chain companies now.
I am the Marine Manager at Peterson in Aberdeen (same company with an offshore base in GY) and we have clients looking for arbitrary cuts in rates, with the threat of withdrawing from contracts if you don't agree. We haven't made any redundancies yet but there have been several cases of people moving on for various reasons and not being replaced.
It wouldn't be so bad if the drop in price was the market acting for purely economic reasons, but it isn't. The whole market is being dictated by the Saudis and Yanks keeping the barrel price artificially low to give the Iranians and the Russians a kicking. Its even putting many of the smaller US shale gas producers out of business, but the US administration doesn't seem to give a s**t!
