I thought they missed dinner 'cos Clarkson was in the pub?

He, May and Hammond were too busy boozing in the pub to take the helicopter back to the hotel at the appointed time, and by the time they left the pub and got choppered over, the chef had understandably gone home for the night (after laying on food platters for them).

This was certainly what was being reported shortly after the event.
