It's not just that.

Duckenfield was never even briefed about policing football matches by his predecessor as match commander, Chf Spt Brian Mole: who was transferred away from S Yorks only weeks earlier. Mole hasn't even been called to the inquest. I cannot understand why.

Duckenfield's admissions came under prolonged, hostile questioning from the Police Federation: the same Police Federation which played a very large part in concocting a whole torrent of lies in the aftermath, and represents and protects police officers: like a trade union basically.

Meanwhile, the media has displayed extraordinarily little interest in the Wain meeting: where a group of senior police sat and took a conscious decision, not in the heat of the moment but in the cold light of day, to blame drunken ticketless fans and to seek any evidence by fair means or foul that might serve to back up that false story.

In shaping the myths that persist almost to this day, that was far more significant than anything else. Yet when it was covered at the inquest, the Duckenfield-obsessed press barely even mentioned it.
