A couple more tips to try before deleting everything...
In the Services menu do the System Health Check - make sure you wait until 'test complete' shows up before pressing backup - then leave it 10mins before turning it back on.
Also there's a hidden menu in the services menu. Press 4, 0, 1 , select and then choose Sky planner rebuild (just 0, 1, select for the newer HD boxes). Again, leave it 10 minutes before turning it back on again. Also in the hidden menu there's a full rebuild option but you lose all recorded programmes if you choose this.
Giylf has more stuff but I haven't found it particularly helpful in the past
