Depends what not great bandwidth is. My fixed bandwidth is s**t - officially it is

20mbs but realistically it is more often around the 8mb - 10mb range (I rent this apartment all inclusive so the landlord went for the cheap option and not possible to install cable here).

I NEVER watch TV really. I stream constantly using an Apple TV via Netflix and NFL Gamepass in 720p quality and it is fine 99% of the time. Once in a blue moon the quality drops for a minute or two, or pauses for a bit. But rarely. Oh, and that is sometimes because of the US proxy I use in the Apple TV in order to get the US content.

What I found made the biggest difference was my router. The speed of the WiFi between the modem and the Apple TV was very important. I made sure that I used a Dual Band (2.4GHz & 5GHz) 802.11n router and used the 5GHz range. Then it is fantastic. And streaming local content in 1080p is just fantastic!
