Of course India are protected...

In Cricket, which big nation has been routinely lauded over the last decade or so for reinventing Cricket and selling the game to more people meaning that the sport is kept alive. Regular sell-outs and massive TV contracts mean everybody else has to play to India's tune.

So what do the Cricket governing bodies and World Cup organisers do if India are out of the World Cup?

It is imperative that India are in the Cricket World Cup latter stages. Failure to have them there will have significant and severe consequences; each day they aren't in it, it'll get harder and harder for Cricket to survive. That necessitates ruthless decisions such as this. It's that simple you fools. Cricket ceased to be a pure sport long ago. It's a business now - and any nation or governing body which tries to ignore that reality quickly has another think coming.
