I'm not entirely sure where this idea comes from. I think it's a mixture of many things

certainly our racists seem to garner a lot more media attention than other countries' racists do, while many people also seem to have an idea that Britain is historically racist, perhaps due to our colonial past, etc.

Our colonisation of the world is a lot better known to people (here at least) than is that of France or Belgium for example
