1. Take a pain killer (ibuprofen is best, but not if you're taking other oral medication)
2. If you have any, use a suppository. Those made by Bayer are most effective, but you may need a prescription for that
3. Don't lie down. Sit up on a soft surface for, depending on the pain, anything between 2 and 8 hours. Lying down will do nothing, but you'll be able to lie down after sitting down once the pain has subsided.
4. Most importantly: if you haven't already, go and see your GP.
