It was ponderous, the first episode. I wouldn't say slow, but there was a definite (deliberate, I think) lack of pace. I think they're playing on the majority of the audience already knowing the character, to allow them to start the series in a different way than if it were a brand-new from-scratch show. They don't have the same requirements for immediacy when establishing his character. So they're not bothering so much. Show, don't tell.

I liked it, very much looking forward to Episode 2 tonight.
