True story...

A mate of mine from Bristol visited me in the north-west. It seemed really odd to him that strangers would start conversations with each-other whilst shopping, and be helpful etc.

He had arrived by train and asked for directions to my house. A local walked him all the way to my house. He said that if he had been in Bristol then people would likely have ignored him or worse.
