That season, Steve Gedge was already saying we were nailed on after we beat QPR 1-0 on New Year's Day. You can just see this certain je ne sais quoi in a team. This real edge.

Then, when I think of all these mid-table going nowhere seasons we've had over the last 20 years - think of all those wasted years - most of the time, it was pretty easy to tell then too. This was all set to be another of them; not now though. Not after today. :)
