Has the football executive board been blown out of proportion?
Ricky Martin is certainly not going to be able to tell our first team manager who he can and can't sign. He'll have an input on academy strategy/matters though.
That leaves the chief exec and head of scouting/recruitment on the Board with the manager, both of whom would be heavily involved in identifying/negotiating with potential new recruits in any football club.
The manager has the final say on transfers. Barry will source players and give advice but if the gaffer isn't happy they won't be signed. David McNally is certainly not going to go out and sign players without the manager's blessing!
There is no 'Director of Football' position at NCFC and I can't see what all the fuss is about.
That said, our former players do appear to be queueing up to have a go at McNally so possibly no smoke without fire. I think that's because they were used to the wonderful, nicey nicey Delia & Michael show when they were at the club, who have now taken more of a back seat.
