I'd been heavilly critical of them down the years
but have been clearly muted by the better decisions since Lambert joined
In 2000 time, Delia once said that taken over Norwich was like setting fire to ?9m in cash, and that was what she had done to save the club
At the time of Chase resigning, as I believe it. Norwich were in 6m debt and were worrying financially
By 2002, the club stated they were 18m in debt and had taken out a loan for ?15m which wouldn't be classed as debt
So if Chase was disgusting and terrible man who nearly took the club under. How did Delia manage to triple the debt whilst claiming to have saved the situation
Then promotion happened in 2004. The magic ?35m payout figure
18 months after relegation, after the AGM, debts were still classed around 20m, and promotion to the premier league was stated as not the promised land fans think it is
Then after Worthington wasted a lot of money on players and eventually left, the purse strings for future manages started to be severely tightened. It was said that after Worthington's spending things were to change from there on
By 2009, the only money available to managers were only enough to cover loans or free transfers
This is a club that had been average 20000+ for years, had success in the play offs, season in the prem etc. The club was on the breadline again. Outside donations were coming in to fund loan players
Eventually in 2009 the club were relegated to league one with all these debts. 1996-2009. 6m debt turned into 20 despite money coming in
From 2009-2012, account figures changed from that, to debt free. To the present day, Norwich are debt free
13 years of poverty, 3 years to pay it off. "But the premier league money will have done that". But it didn't do anything in 2004/05? hmmmm
That's my long winded reply to say I'm nothing like scc or selwyn. I'd been heavilly criticised for stating all the above a few years back. I expect it won't be popular reading today
The Big Feller's post come from someone who's probably worried all the above has the potential to happen again, and is incandescent with disbelief to why it could get like that again, but knows it could
So it's not about foresight from 2 months ago with me. I'd always questioned what they were doing
