Because at the end of the day...

when your 2-1 up with a few mins to go, no matter where you are on the pitch, you don't give possesion away cheaply by doing a poncy little flick when its not needed, you keep the ball as long as possible.

Example:

Heikkenen for Donny against Arsenal in the cup, 2-1 in injury time, instead of holding the ball in the corner, he tries to cross it, Arsenal regain possesion, go up the other end and equalise
