I respect people's view that Hughton was awful, but I think Hughton deserves the right to

say that he could have kept the team up.

He deserves that right because he did the season before. As much as people blame him for relegation, it would have made complete sense to have him take control of the whole season, and then fans could actually 100% blame him for it

Because he didn't get the full season, he can (and rightly so) say he could and would have managed it
