As a long time resident of Scotland - interesting referendum thread below...

Scotland is divided like I have never seen any part of the UK so divided.
IMO the result is going to be close, so whoever wins the divisions will remain and a NO vote won't stop the SNP, there'll be back to ask the same question again the first chance they get.
I've been amazed by the total lack of any doorstep canvassing from both sides - our immediate area has seen canvassers from either side and the flyers etc we have received have been delivered with the normal post by Royal Mail.

I am a definite No voter, but I think we probably should have had a third choice with more devolution on offer, which would have won the referendum hands down in my view.

In the event of a No vote two things have to happen with any transfer of additional powers:
1. The block grant to Scotland from Westminster must be allocated on the basis of Scotland's population as a proportion of the UK total.
2. MP's from Scottish constituencies must no longer be allowed to vote on English only legislation.

In the event of a Yes vote, its going to be an unholy mess for the whole of the current UK and make no mistake about it and will take many years to sort out. Moving the Trident submarines further south is'nt too much of a problem, but finding somewhere suitable to store the missiles certainly is!

The whole 'Yes' argument, is built on what they would like to see happen, rather than what they can actually make happen and its all based on oil which is a declining resource. Its quite possible that an independent Scotland could end up importing domestic gas from the remainder of the UK in only a few years time, that's if Salmond hasn't covered Scotland in f**king wind turbines by then!

I could go on, but suffice to say the possibilities for a massive cluster f**k are considerable!
