I'm a bit torn on this one

Because fundamentally I do believe that (save for certain offences) the purpose of prison should be to reform as well as punish and if that is truly the case then prisoners need to be able to return to society and obtain employment upon their release. I also followed the trial reasonably closely and frankly was a little surprised at the guilty conviction.

That said he was found guilty, its not been overturned and it does not feel right that he should be walking back into such a highly paid job as if nothing has happened within 3 years of being convicted. Having been found guilty the sentence seems too short.

I think therefore my view is that yes he should be allowed to return to whatever work he can get on his release if someone will take him but in this case I'm uncomfortable with it and its disappointing that some professional football clubs will doubtless employ him in the blink of an eye.
