You can park on Whitlingham Lane for free if you are early enough... or if you
have a pint in the White Horse Trowse you can leave your car there for free. Or lots of on road parking through the other side of Trowse with the added bonus of not having to leave via the County Hall roundabout - you just scoot out to Caister St. Edmunds and take a right to get to A140, A11 - or turn left at Arminghall thru to Poringland for anywhere that way.
