Oh it was awful

Awful awful awful

From memory we'd had an up-and-down start to the season (it was the play off season, where we were stuffed by Millwall first game and then beat Man City with the Libbra wonder-goal the next game) and really needed a win at that point to get going. Stockport hadn't won all season ... and we just didn't turn up ... and then Palmer, of all unlikely people, scored to make it 2-0, and then Stockport had a man sent off (at which point Whuggy stood up and screamed at the screen because, he said, he knew it meant we were doomed). And we just carried on being remorsely average. I still remember the pain.

Daryl Sutch was playing that night, BTW. Not that any of us realised the significance of that at the time!
