I almost forgot, George Stephenson, in fact I did. Several places to visit/see in
relation to him. Stephenson was a Northumbrian, as were Grace Darling and Earl Grey (yes, Earl Grey Tea). Of course there's also Berwick & Kielder!
Hadrian's Wall, is also well worth a visit. There are several places to visit, 'Vindolanda' is a good one and the scenery round that area is lovely.
