Was that at Woodhorn museum?
Yep, Milburn and the Charlton's were all from Ashington. Jack has stayed more in touch with his roots than Bobby though. In fact Jack co-owns a pub at Cambois called 'Charltons Bar', but it's not very good.
Just down the road from Ashington is a little village called New Hartley, next to Seaton Delaval. Famous for two things mainly. The Hartley pit disaster and New Hartley Juniors football club. Which is an extremely historic and successful club, especially considering the small size of the village. It was where Ray Kennedy played his football before signing for Arsenal. Ray lives in the village, but his health is rather poor. It saddens me when I think of the multi-million pounds that the Arsenal & Liverpool players are earning and there is Ray struggling on.
Steve Harmison is an ex- New Hartley Junior, as is Graham Fenton.
