Northumberland-wise. ..

Bamburgh (beach and castle) is very pretty. As with most beaches around it's usually quite windy.

Embleton Bay is beautiful - you can walk for miles north or south. At the top of the bay is The Ship Inn at Low Newton - they brew their own beer and it's fantastic - they do the usual crab sandwiches etc. The pub is in the corner of a horseshoe of cottages.

Seahouses reminds me of Cromer/Sheringham.They do trips to the Farne Islands here.

Holy Island very atmospheric obviously, few tacky shops also.

Craster (famous for the crabs) very good smokehouse.

Warkworth - fantastic castle well worth a visit, one street town

Amble - bit of a dive

Alnwick - small town reminds me of BSE (not the mad cow disease) Harry Potter castle, lots of little shops & pubs. Massive second-hand bookshop if you're into that sort of thing.

My favourite part is Dunstanburgh castle - mostly ruins tumbling into the sea but a really romantic setting. You have to walk from Craster or Embleton but it's well worth it.

Oh and Berwick Upon Tweed is worth a visit too. You can walk around the town along the Elizabethan defensive wall so there's nice views across the town and out to sea.

Sorry to waffle on - I've tried to be brief about each part!
