I don't have one specific anecdote that shows him to be the devil

but I've heard similar things from several riders about how they don't like him. How he is aloof and so focused on winning that he would s**t over anyone to do it. The only person he speaks to in the peloton is Porte, but he gets really needly as soon as someone does something he doesn't like. If, for example, Froome thinks that he has been cut off, or that other teams are conspiring against him, he'll hold a grudge for months and try to cut them up at a different time. All a bit Armstrongesque, and all of which seems to be re-inforced by his autobiography.

I've met him a few times and ridden with him once and he seemed fine - trains exactly how he races, looking at his stem every two seconds. But several people that know him better and ride with him a lot have said otherwise about him.

I'm pretty sure it's not just jealousy either. Riders like Contador and Nibali are hugely popular, and so are some British riders like Cavendish and Millar. There seems to be a general respect for Wiggins as well, but not for Froome.
