Maximo Park...

I think are a good band, but listening to their album i would say it is good without being exceptional - a sort of 7/10 album. Love the song 'Graffiti' though.

For me, Arcade Fire just edge Bloc Party for band of the year. Arcade Fire because they have come from nowhere and i now know how it must have felt to hear OK Computer when it was first released. Bloc Party because both their live performances and album make my spine shiver!

Babyshambles 'Albion' single of the year and a great album too, and mentions must also go to Mew, The Rakes, Antony and the Johnsons, Coldplay and Doves for very good albums.

My gig of the year? Either Bloc Party at Rock City or this electro-trash Canadian duo at The Social in Nottingham called Dandi Wind - was very pissed and it was very very good.
