The complexities of tactics, fitness, health, nutrition, rest and relaxation, agents, massive financial responsibility, the media, agents, incomprehensible player wages etc simply weren't around to anywhere near the same extent 30 years ago as now. Neil might be a great coach. But he has barely any first hand experience of any of the above
