My point was simply that

given how much better they are, it's amazing that they may be picking an attacking player who wouldn't be an obvious shoo-in for us. (In the end he probably would make it in the squad, admittedly, given we've taken Lambert - but I'd definitely prefer to see Sturridge play ahead of him, in addition to Rooney. And even Lambert scored 13 prem goals last season, vs Torres's 5.)

Anyway, the more important thing is that I still haven't learnt never to disagree with you on a message board...
