Odd one that. Contraction of "woollyback" which used exclusively by people

from small and specific areas of the Northwest to refer to people from other small specific areas of the Northwest.

To a Liverpudlian, a woollyback is someone from St. Helens. To someone from St. Helens a woollyback is someone from Wigan or Widnes.
