The worthy out brigade...

...i've seen a few of these petitions going around, and its disheartening, and not what i would expect from our fans. In two years we have had fans go from a position of happiness with our form in the first division to a set of fans that believe we have a devine right to be in the premiership. Believe me, we do not.

This change in expectations have come as a result of Nigels achievements with a limited squad at first, followed by a brave transfer budget, showing the boards and managers ambition at the time.

Now, when we talk about players such as Michael Owen we hear people say "form is temporary, class is permanent", in association with his scoring record. Why don't fans say the same about managers, yes Nigel is frustrating us for various reasons lately, the majority being down to recent results. But we DO NOT know the situation behind the scenes.

Finally, in our experience, a club used to the revolving door seein new managers come in and out and continual poor league finishings since 1993-4, why are some so keen to remove our manager.

Some people need to start thinking outside of the box here, what other quality can we bring in, what would it say to other managers if we sacked nigel after what hes done for this club, the old sayin goes "theres no room for sentiment" and you can't work off "past glories" - well i don't think these apply here.

Why does Hucks always play? cos we kno what he can do, and he'll start doin it again soon. Why does Ashton keep starting? cos he has class that WILL cme through eventually. Why do the FA perservere with SVGE as england manager, cos under pressure he brings results. For me Worthy has shown he CAN do the job, and maybe we should look at the players more than the manager.

Obvious response here, is that its nigels job to get the players in the right frame of mind. Think about looking after 25 teenagers, what can u say to sulky, moody teenagers to make them change their state of mind or atitude? Not very much, the same applies to footballers, they WILL come good, and in the words of Kevin Keegan, I WOULD LOVE IT IF THIS TEAM TURNED IT AROUND - AND WORTHY WAS THE MAN TO DO IT, I WOULD F****NG LOVE IT.

Give him some time, he deserves it.
