if you only concentrate on his strengths, yes...

but the defensive side of his game is so awful it means against a decent passing team you can't get the ball. Man U got away with it when Keane was at his peak because he was great enough to cover for him. Fergie introduced his controversial switch from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 when he realised Keane could no longer cover for Scholes and top Euro teams were finding it too easy to pass through his midfield. So he had to add an extra midfielder to help them break up the play. With Scholes in CM England ALWAYS struggled to keep possession of the ball. The 2002 tournament is a classic example - we couldn't keep possession in any of the games and so whenever ahead adopted the Worthy "surrender midfield and drop everyone into your own penalty area" technique.
