This is obviously all a bit new - we've never geared up for the Tour like this before. So no-one really knows.
But I think it depends what you're after. The Hubs will I think have screens, catering, even music etc. Designed for people to make a proper day of it (but will, therefore, presumably be packed).
Whereas picking your own spot, you're more likely to get a bit of space, but there'll be less to see. The Tour caravan of vehicles, throwing out sweeties and Plastic Things. Then a bunch of cars and motorbikes. Then the lead group of half a dozen or so riders. Then a wait for a few minutes. Then more cars and motorbikes. Then the peleton will come roaring by in all its glory, all 200-odd of them. Then a few more cars and publicity vehicles.
Depends what you're after I think.
