He pointed out to me that the whole reason our season didn't work was the whole attacking line up was built around a player we never signed.
Hooper plays best as part of a front 2 but he was never meant to be first choice. RVW didn't play alongside another .. He played up front on his own but in front of a good no 10. We tried to sign quag, ole and shelvey ... None of which came off. We refused to play hoolahoop and threw butterfield away thinking he wasn't good enough.
Then we bodged .. We brought in elmander because we had no plan B. We still though were set up to play a system designed around a player ... We didn't have. We tried howsen in there and fer both players who should have been further back.
Then in jan mcnasty said we tried to sign a no.10 from a "massive club" .. Again we failed.
We've ended up with a base team designed to play with grant holt and a few new extras designed to play with a player that we never bought
