I want a prospective manager to have some kind of track record

I know very little about how well he's done in Australia. As I said before, if he really is one of the most highly rated managers over there, he's worth thinking about. But I do wonder why, if he is, then he isn't actually in charge anywhere.

But none of this has anything to do with his playing record.
