The question is whether they actually inject oodles of cash
If so then they're distorting competition (even more than it's already distorted by champions' league revenue etc). Whereas if they're just trying to run the club as a business - ie by making a profit from football revenues, which are fundamentally determined by the footballing authorities - then they're not distorting things in the same way. There aren't actually 'American dollars' being accepted by anyone.
Viewed through that lens, then seems to me that Chelsea's and Man City's owners are more of a worry than others.
