We need to remember that Barcelona is a giant vampire squid clamped over the face of modern football, suffocating the life out of everything around it.

Barca and Real are doing their best to kill the Spanish league as a meaningful contest, by ensuring that they hoover up every euro cent of available revenue, leaving none for anyone else. So they can buy the best players in the world (again), and have suckers and w**kers walking around in replica shirts from Torquay to Kuala Lumpur.

Barca, Real, Bayern etc etc are everything that is wrong with modern football. Evil corporate juggernaughts killing their rivals and trying to sell me soft drinks at the same time.

(Although in fairness I could write a similar diatribe about Man City, spunking away the mineral reserve wealth of a down trodden nation subject to authoritarian rule and systematic abuses of human rights. So its swings and roundabouts really.)
