he hasn't been able to evolve his tactics away from counter attacking at Villa. Also, hasn't really evolved his signings - still buying only young, unproven players (and Holt).

It surprises me, because I thought he'd go on to do better than Rodgers, for example, who always seemed a lot more dogmatic in his approach. Yet Rodgers has shown a lot more tactically flexibility in the last few seasons.
