They can both be right.

McNally is looking after the interests of the club.
He doesn't want to sell to a relegation rival for a stupid price when we doesn't have to.
Everyone assumes Villa is his only option but this whole saga has made other clubs aware that he could be sold for a reasonable price.
Its obvious Villa are exploiting the situation for their gain.

Wes is right because he wants to play and feels he has no chance of regular football while CH is in charge.
I don't blame him one bit for putting in a transfer request.
Obviously hasn't handled the press well.
