Actually I have a lot of experience with this. Being an expat. Last time

I was back was Christmas 12 and before than January 12. I know you will get less visits but my still relevant. My mum was in bits for a while but she's got used to it. Would still rather I was there but knows I wouldn't have the same lifestyle. I've been here 17 years.

Mrs in holland is from turkey - near the Syrian border - and has been out is turkey since graduation about 20 years ago. Her immediate family are in turkey, France, Canada, Germany and the uk. We all use video skype and tango to keep in touch. It's not the same but helps hugely. For example the other night we had a few drinks and she ended up with two sisters in uk on one phone and the one in France on the iPad and they were all singing songs together and dancing. Really really helps. Finally technology to help humankind :)
