to an extent i agree but...

we have played well when our first choice players have been available.

With Tettey, Howson and Fer in the middle we were really looking the part. Add on the Hooper/fit wolf/Pilks - Redmond as impact player, Bennett pushing an unchallenged Snodgrass etc and performances will improve.

The squad is stretched and we just don't have the quality to play pretty consistently enough.

we got by in previous seasons by sheer bloody minded will-power but that only carries you so far. Hughton has slowly been improving the level of quality but he is also pragmatic - he grinds a result over the style for sure.

It is poor at the moment but he is still sticking points on the board and that has to be to his credit. in a perfect world without injury I am sure he would love to be entertaining but survival first, then style.........
