Agree that he looks lightweight

and shouldn't be first choice. However, the other back up options, like Jones and Lescott, might by physically stronger, but are also clumsy and prone to errors.

I think Smalling has potential to become a lot better - Cahill, Jagielka, Lescott are all pretty much at their peak - so he's worth persisting with.
