Can?t think anything but BT have overpaid for the rights

A pal (who I went to the tennis with on Monday) told me that BT Sport had paid 30% more than the next highest bid which was Sky at around ?230m, and Sky wouldn?t go any higher than that.

The end result from a BT point of view will surely be that they?ll try to recoup this money against other products so expect a rise in broadband, phone bills to offset this.

So not good news for Sky as they will have lost a flagship product. Not good for BT Sport as they have massively overpaid. And not good news for BT consumers as they?ll end up paying for this in some shape or form.

Only good news for the cash rich clubs in the Chumps League who will benefit from a huge cash boost just as financial fair play comes in.
