it's interesting as to whether the fans make any difference in regards to the confidence of the team and the atmosphere in the ground.

Which is why the relentlessly gloomy souls on here depress me somewhat (as pessimistic fans would actually hamper results regardless of players/management/the weather).

What do pessimists get out of looking on the dark side?
