I was teaching and remember a letter from a parent asking permission for his son to miss

School because this was probably going to be a 'once in a lifetime experience'. I remember completely understanding why he wanted to keep his son off school but thinking he was very wrong about it being a once in a lifetime experience. I was convinced we'd be in Europe every year!
