Seriously though, sounds to me like you are certainly within your rights. Asking him to 'have another look' at the invoice is always the best thing to do, especially in your case (if it goes to court).

Having said that, it depends on what you agreed with him in the first place as that is the "contract" as such.

You can also consider getting other professionals to back you up with your view that the work is poor etc.
