I spent 3 weeks working in a Uni in Brasilia in the 94. The brazillian guy I was working with had one of Beeltles with special air conditioning.

I asked him how he got the holes in the side of his car... he told me he was caught up in a shoot out between some bad ass's on the motorway, and those holes were 9mm calibre....
