Unfortunately there's been no trans-Andean train for at least 20 years

there's one that goes from northern Chile into Bolivia.

They call it the Train of Death, not because of some romantic notion about it going over bridges over huge drops or along dangerous mountain tracks, but because people get mugged and murdered on it
