1-11 was from the old "W" formation
got confused when 442 came along how it used to be was
1 Goal Keeper
2 Right Back
3 left back
4 Right half
5 centre half
6 left half
7 right winger
8 inside right
9 centre forward
10 inside left
11 left winger
as it lined up we would see it as 2-3-5 formation with the 2 the full backs the three shirts 4/5/6 and the 5 the forwards
