well the gels are mostly carbs rather than protein, but yes

Just calculated that during the Italy ride, I'll burn something like 6,500 calories (which I'll need to replace during the ride, basically). The only way to do that is via gels & special bars etc, at least partly. (Will also be necking some Italian parma ham sarnies, hopefully...)
