Ours is great. Cupboard under the stairs, no steam at all.

No dampness problems.

However my sister-in-law has one in the cupboard under their stairs, and they have had problems with dampness - the wallpaper was peeling off in the cupboard.

I guess it depends on the model. Ours is a Hotpoint Aquarius 8kg TCM580.
