I spent an hour with the Ware's last night and they were totally in awe of the reception Paul got. I'd have taken a defeat after that to be honest, as football is about far more than the 90 mins on the pitch. Warey was one of us, proper player and a proper person. The sort everyone loves in their colours.

You may have lost the game, but Stoke fans and the Ware family know hay your club is all about, if they didn't before.

Be a pleasure to have a beer with you next season.
